I would eat too many Jucy Lucys at Matts Bar if I lived in that area and could easily walk there anytime.

What information are you looking for specifically? We live near there. Public transportation is good around there, you have busses going up and down Cedar and along 38th St. You'd be close to the light rail station on 38th St. Matt's Bar is a legendary burger joint a few blocks north on 35th and Cedar. There's a decent park nearby on 39th and Longfellow where they put up an ice rink in the winter. There are a few other decent restaurants and bars nearby, The Cardinal Tavern is at the light rail stop on 38th St. Also near there is Ted Cook's 19th hole barbecue. The original Chatterbox pub is on 35th St and 23rd Ave. There's Marla's on 38th St and Bloomington Ave (I recommend their jerk chicken). There's a bar called Busters on 42nd and 28th Ave that has a good beer selection.

You'd be fairly close to Lake St which is a commercial thoroughfare all the way down in both directions with plenty of shops and restaurants. In the other direction you're a short distance from Lake Nokomis and Lake Hiawatha.

Crime, old houses, small yards, houses close together, grid streets, traffic, blight, bla bla bla. About the only thing it has going for it is large trees.

/ignores misconceptions.

Grid streets and old houses are negatives for you?

Yeah.......crime would be my only concern, but my understanding was that area is pretty safe from violent crime. What about robbery?

I hear Ted Cook's is the best kept secret for MPLS BBQ!
