I start a thread like this every time I move some where new.
This is for places you can go eat at for $10 or less per person.
My starting submissions:

Mexican: El Loro, Yankee Doodle Rd, Eagan. $7 fajitas at lunch!
Chevys, Next to Mall of America, Bloomington. Great fajitas!
Chipotle, Everywhere. Great (and cheap) Chicken Buritos

BBQ: Famous Daves, 7th Street, St. Paul

Italian I forget the name but it has a Pasta Bar and its in the Lilydale
Towncenter on 13th. A custom lunch pasta plate made in front
of you. The tastiest affordable pasta plate I've ever had!

Chinese ?

Seafood ? (A fish -n chips type place)

Steak ?

Best Burger ?

Pizza ?

And whatever else people want to add..

The Italian place I liked so much was "Buon Giorno Italia" off the 13 in Lilydale.
The best $9 Pasta you will ever eat!

Mexican: El Loro is suburban tex-mex crap if you ask me (I'm a self-proclaimed Mexican food snob though). Needless to say, few would argue that there are much better options in South Minneapolis and on the Westside of St. Paul.

BBQ: Ted Cook's 19th Hole BBQ near the 38th St light rail station in South Minneapolis. It definitely blows Famous Dave's away.

Italian: I found Tucci Benucch to be pretty good, located in the Mall of America. A meal there will exceed your $10 limit though.

Chinese: Are you looking for strictly Chinese or Asian places in general? For Chinese Chinese go to Little Szechuan in Frogtown (University/Dale) in St. Paul. For excellent budget Vietnamese check out Quang off of Eat Street in South Minneapolis. Their Pho is second to none.

Seafood: The only seafood place I've found that I really like is Stella's Fish Cafe in Uptown but it's going to be more expensive than your $10 per person limit.

Steak: Can't help you there, all the best places are located downtown and are well above your price limit.

Best Burger: The Jucy Lucy at Matt's Bar (35th St and Cedar Ave in South Minneapolis)

Pizza: I have yet to find a superior pizza pie in the Twin Cities. To be honest we usually go to Papa Murphy's just because you get a decent pizza to throw in the oven with fresh ingredients and they don't charge sales tax.

Ok so some of the choices I expect to pay more than $10.
I was just looking for the best "value" places for these types of "eats"

Seafood: This one is in Minneapolis, but Anchor Fish and Chips is quite good. Prepare to wait for a table though. Maybe try Mac's Fish and Chips on Larpenteur Ave in St Paul (seems like it has a lot of mixed reviews but maybe it's worth a shot).

Mexican: Check out St Paul's West Side - El Burrito Mercado and numerous other options.

Pizza: people tend to be very particular about pizza. What kind do you tend to like?

If you're adventurous, you may want to check out Hmong Village on Johnson Parkway in St Paul - I haven't eaten there yet but there are a lot of cheap and seemingly tasty options.

Never been. My wife and I don't like really like steak or the type of food served at steak places though.

Me neither. I just get a kick out of the name. It's a little hole in the wall place that looks like it's been there for decades. One of the only non-Asian places along that stretch of University.

A guy I worked with says "the Best Steak House" isn't too bad.
He goes there every Tues for the $8.99 16 oz steak. If fact he
said he was going tonight..

At only $9 for a full pound it can't come from a cow..

Well, the good thing about restaurants in that part of town is you know that not a whole lot of your meal ticket is going to pay the rent.
