I'm currently a member of Lifetime Fitness, but prior to moving to Minnesota I belonged to Bally's in Los Angeles. I like LTF BUT it's about $55/month for a single membership. Bally's keeps sending me letters/emails to come back as a member for MUCH less. I workout a lot so I'm willing to keep paying more for LTF IF it's worth it, but saving money at Bally's would be nice. Has anyone belonged to both and have an opinion?? Or a strong opinion on one or the other? I primarily run on the treadmill, use some machines, and occasionally take a class. Thanks in advance!

I prefer Lifetime. They are clean, well-kept, and nice. They cost slightly more but I definitely think they are the best value for the money.

Watch out for the different membership levels. Depending on how nice the particular club you visit is, and what they offer, you may find you want a "Platinum" level membership instead of a "Gold" membership.

Bally's comeback offers are like $10 a month when I get them. However, the club I used (Fridley) was ran down and out dated. I heard they have a nice club in Richfield and maybe St L Park but Lifetime is expensive. Nice gym, but pretty costly.

Thanks for the replies. The Bally's come back offer was $98 for a YEAR! That's less than what two months at LTF costs! Super cheap. I will have to check out a Bally's...but the most central to work and home would be the Fridley club. I guess I'll have to see if it's worth the price difference!!

It also helps to check out the reviews, too:

Thanks! Now I really think I need to just try out Bally's...or tour it and get a free week pass. The reviews are all over the place. I'm sure I'll prefer LTF....but the value for Bally's is something I need to look into. Thanks.
