Wow, that video is painful.

Although, I did fail the parallel parking on my driver's test and still passed the test . I can parallel park reasonably well now. Best advice I got was to put the back end where you need it and don't think about the front end (other than not hitting the car in front). The front end is easy to adjust once the back end is in place.

Oh, and watch the full-stops. I apparently rolled all of my stops, and if I had missed one more point, I would have failed.

But, really, I'm a good driver.

I took it in Hastings way back when (1985). Yes you have to parallel park. When I took it, if you hit a cone, it was considered an accident and an automatic fail.

Downtown Hastings has one way streets that run north-south, so watch for those.

It isn't really publicized or even officially recognized (my BIL is a DL Examiner Grd II), but you can push your score back up over the pass mark by completing the test quickly providing you don't hit any obstacles or pedestrians. In this way they can get more of the tests completed and increase their commissions. He said sometimes he will yell at the applicant just to see how they react to stressful situations, especially if they appear a bit too cocky.

I know someone who has failed their test 4 times and is 20 and cannot seem to get their license. Bone head!

Probably a pretty good indication that public transportation would be a better option for her. My sister took the test 5 times and I think only passed because the examiner felt sorry for her. She couldn't understand why I wouldn't let my kids ride in a car with her
