"The CPED research team is pleased to announce the publication of our new Census web site: www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/census

This site now encompasses our former Census 2000 web content, plus last year’s Census 2010 content which focused on the City’s outreach and promotion efforts.

The portion of the site called “2010 Census – Results and Analysis” is the place where we have begun to publish the detailed 2010 Census data, including the so-called “redistricting summary file” released on March 16th. At this time we have prepared tables and maps by ward, by park commissioner district, by neighborhood and by Census block. Additional geographic overlays [e.g. Census tracts, Traffic Analysis Zones] will be done in the coming weeks. We will expand this site as the remaining 2010 Census data [e.g. gender, age, households] is released over the summer.

The site includes links to a number of other governmental Census resources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, the State Demographic Center, and the Metropolitan Council’s “Data + Maps” site. We have begun archiving articles about local Census media reports on the “Census News Stories” page. And there is a “reports and presentations page” where we will post formal reports, starting with yesterday’s presentation to the Minneapolis Charter Commission. That report is a good primer on what 2010 Census data is available so far. Please see below for an excerpt of that report and a screen shot of the new Census home page.
