Default Moving to Minneapolis from Springfield, IL

I'm moving with my 16-year-old son from Springfield, IL. What are some good suburbs? I want a relatively short commute to downtown with little traffic. I'm looking for either a single-family home or condo/townhouse in a safe neighborhood with a good high school. Also, I don't want a hugely developed area, one with trees and pretty scenery and wildlife. I'm looking to spend no more than around 250,000, and am hoping for a decent size and low taxes, if possible. Please let me know if you have any ideas!

Minnetonka is known for being a close-in suburb which maintains its natural surroundings. It was developed before most things around it, so it doesn't conform to typical suburbia. It maybe more pricey, but you should be able to find something. The schools are some of the best in the state.

If St. Paul I would recommend Hastings, Stillwater, Lake Elmo, White Bear Lake and Woodbury. PM me if you would like to get pre-qualified for a mortgage or need a referral for a good buyers agent. The market is heavily weighted in favor of buyers at this time, so don't be afraid to drive a hard bargain.
