Default Travel Baseball programs in the TC

Looking for information on travel baseball programs in the TC area. Moving to the area this summer and need information for 12U programs which my son would be trying out for next year. What can I say...I'm a big planner. :-) (this actually goes into the mix with where we decide to live.) Thanks!

Pretty much every town has one so that shouldn't be an issue.

I played in the Mickey Mantle traveling league which I believe is metro-wide, and there's also a Babe Ruth league. Check those out. I'm not familiar with the term "12U", but I know that there is traveling baseball as early as 12 years old and as late as 12th grade (I played until my Senior year when I quit because I couldn't stand my coach).

Thanks. I realize that there are teams around, just looking for specific info. Speaking from experience of having 2 sons playing travel ball, I know all programs are not created equally. Do you have children that have played travel ball in the Minneapolis area?

No idea if this is comprehensive, but it's a list that might be:
Minnesota Youth Baseball Associations

As a former outstanding Baseball athlete in the metro, I can give you some insight. Some communties embrace baseball, ie-Field quality, event quality (tournaments), scoreboards, announcers, lineup brochures, uniforms, instructors, camps, and coaches... I have played at multiple fields in nearly every suburb you can imagine... I know that Brooklyn Park had a very good youth program, as well as Shoreview. White Bear Lake had a great program as did Maple Grove.

Each city or high school area has an Athletic Association. For example, if you live in Eagan your son would play in the Eagan Athletic Association if he lives in the Eagan High School boundaries or the Eastview Athletic Association if you are a future Eastview attendee.

Within each at Athletic Association they will have inhouse leagues and traveling teams. Everyone makes inhouse and traveling requires tryouts - sometimes in the fall but mostly in the spring. Traveling tryouts set up AAA, AA and A teams (sometimes called A, B & C teams). The number of teams for each Association depends on how many tryout. Some kids get cut.

The traveling teams then play in leagues sponsored by Metro Baseball League (MBL) in the south metro and Gopher State Leagues for north metro. They also play in weekend tournaments from May - June and state tournaments in July.

Hope that helps.
