There is some truth in what Betsi says about Minnesota - the drivers, and the people. Drivers: the Twin Cities is an EASY place to live, which, I find, makes many people very unaware. The lifestyle here does not force one to have to be on his/her toes. They can just float, so you see drivers doing stupid things. The people: . Nice, polite, but difficult to form friendships and break rank. People are very much tied only to their families and friends from childhood. There are exceptions, but this is the profile that you will encounter.

It is a beautiful state; the Twin Cities are beautiful, full of culture, you don't have to drive forever to get out to the country, some school districts are excellent. We have immigrants (mainly Somali and Hmong), but the African-American middle class is missing. What does exist of that community is so small that everyone in that group knows each other.

Anyway, the best of luck to you.

Marshall sucks. It is fine for raising your kids, I guess... But there really is not much going on here. It's 1 1/2 hours to sioux falls. Around two hours to Mankato and about 3 to 3 1/2 hours from Minneapolis.

Bottom line is... This town is not for me and I'm getting out ASAP once I save up the cash. The ski resort runs are too short here and they don't have any backcountry riding

Oh, BTW... There are not any ski resorts in Marshall and it's TOO FREAKING windy ALL THE TIME!
