Just curious about commutes..
What kind of commute might somebody living in Andover and working in Lakeville expect to have?
How about St. Bonifacius to downtown St. Paul or Hudson, WI?
White Bear Lake to Maple Grove?
South Minneapolis (Lake Nokomis area) to Downtown Minneapolis?
Maple Grove to Cottage Grove?
Does anybody know of people who commute say, from St. Cloud to Minneapolis or Minneapolis to Rochester (or vice versa)?
I think I've heard of people commuting from Duluth to Minneapolis, though I don't know if this is for real (though a guy I knew would stay at a friend's or family member's house in the Cities for a few days and then return home).

These are probably the only 2 sane commutes. Sure people do the other commutes, but that doesn't mean that they aren't wasting their life in traffic. Anything is doable. It depends what your priorities in life are.

I know they aren't smart commutes, just curious on what people estimate the times will be.

Except for Nokomis-Downtown, these are jokes. Plus there is no reason for a commute like Andover-Lakeville. They are the same suburb on opposite ends of town.

What kind of commute might somebody living in Andover and working in Lakeville expect to have? Bad, takes much more than an hour. More with 35w bridge down.
How about St. Bonifacius to downtown St. Paul or Hudson, WI? Hours, likely two hours, another bad one.
White Bear Lake to Maple Grove? The best, about a half hour interstate most the way over the north loop.
South Minneapolis (Lake Nokomis area) to Downtown Minneapolis? Pretty good. City street traffic. Maybe a half hour.
Maple Grove to Cottage Grove? A good hour, interstate all the way. Northwest Minneapolis to Southeast St Paul, around the interstate loop.
Does anybody know of people who commute say, from St. Cloud to Minneapolis or Minneapolis to Rochester (or vice versa)? Metro transits are in development and many will be commuting by train, maybe in a couple years. Your are talking 1 and a half hour drive, at least.
For an hour drive time, best look to Wisconsin to live, for cheaper housing, and lower taxes. East edge of St Paul is only 15 minutes from Wisconsin.

I just found out today that a co-worker's friend commutes from Cambridge to south Mpls (near Abbott Northwestern Hospital); usually it took 45 min to an hour each way. Now that the 35W bridge is out; it's taking nearly 2 hours each way.
I would hate that; I have better things to spend my life doing than commuting that much!

Just adding something...if I lived in S MPLS and worked downtown I would definitely commute by bike, except in the winter. I don't know why somebody else my age wouldn't.
