High end hair salon in the area?
Is there a chain higher end hair salon in the area?
I'll be moving to the area and I thought starting with a good chain might be a way to go and then I can get recommendations.
Thanks!

There is Juut Salons & also Jon English - google them to find out more. I'm certain there are plenty others - but those are the first two that come to mind!

Minneapolis is a not very fashion concious. A hat that you will wear for 5 months out of the year will eliminate any need for any high end hair saloon. lol

Robinb:
I really love the Jon English salon. They have one location in Uptown (right on Hennepin and Lake) and another one in St. Louis Park (on Excelsior Ave). I personally used to have my hair cut and highlighted by the stylist named "Jez". She is at the St. Louis Park location (I followed her there from the Uptown location), and she is FANTASTIC. I have really difficult hair, and she made it look very very nice. I don't live in Minnesota anymore, or I would still be with her. I haven't found anyone as good.

I'd warn anyone who was scheduling with "Hair Police" though that you are NOT going to get a traditional "high end" experience there! REALLY!
They are very good, very talented. They only hire the best, BUT, it is VERY alternative, VERY! They specialize in colourful extension, dread-perms, & VERY VERY left of centre stuff!
When I went there for the first time YEARS ago the walls were painted all black & there was mind-crushing music playing very loud on the stereo, there were accentuated holes in the brick walls, & nearly everyone was tatu'd, pierced, extensioned, & in some sort of really OUT THERE alternative dress!
I almost fell on the floor, because I wasn't prepared & I was far from vibing with that whole groove at the time ('90). Just a few years ago I was going there regularly for "dread maintenance" & while the atmosphere was a bit different, it is still very alternative - the difference is that I feel far more comfortable in that environment (minus the music).
They are some of the best around - but, that atmosphere is DEFINITELY not for everyone, just an FYI...

Yes, the Hair Police are exactly as you described, but if you really think about it most salons are eccentric in their own way. From artsy fartsy to snobbish and everything in between. If you want a "normal" environment then I'd suggest Cost Cutters.

I wasn't speaking of "normal" in a generalized sense - but specifically what one tends to think of when hearing "High-end Salon" - Hair Police does not fit that bill - at all! (except in the sense that the stylist are very talented)
And, Cost Cutters would, in no way, fit the "normal" image of "High-end Salon"...

Not sure if you'd consider two salons a chain, but I always considered Details to be a high-end place to go. They have one salon in Highland and another in downtown St Paul. I used to frequent the Highland one and almost always had a good experience, whether it was for hair, massage or other services.
