I remember listening to WDGY on AM in the mid-70's, and also "The New Music Explosion: KDWB".

It looks like Met Stadium had more concession options in the 60's than the Metrodome currently offers.

Regarding Music and Radio Stations:

Both Target and Musicland used to have weekly top 40 lists (like the one presented for WDGY).

Both WDGY 1130 am and KDWB 630 am played top 40 in the '60s and '70s
KSTP 1500 also started playing rock in the early '70s. I remember they used to play a Beatles song at the top of every hour.

KQRS - FM was the first free-form radio station in the early '70s, but it switched to a more commercialized rock format in the mid-late '70s.

I know I've mentioned this before, but examples of radio shows from the 1960s-1980s with Top 40 AM disk Jockeys in their prime are available from the following site.
Airchecks:Radio:REELRADIO Reel Top 40 Radio Repository

I think they ask for a donation to listen, but its an awesome collection--they have many DJ's from the Twin Cities.

Oh great memories! How About the Piggly-Wiggly grocery store at 90th and Penn and - do you all still have Red Owl grocery stores? I grew up in Bloomington (Lincolhn HS grad 1969) then moved away in the late 70s.

Think you mean Penny's Market which also did have a cartoon pig sign. Red Owl, also known as the dirty bird. Worked at the one in Clover Shopping Center as well as Hardware Hank and Farrel's Ice Cream Parlour nearby.

I do remember both the Southtown Theatre on the corner of Xerxes Avenue Southright at the I-494 overpass, and a little further to the east down 78th street closer to the Southtown Target was Howard Wong's.

Does anyone else remember the drive-in move theatre which used to be on the Northwest corner of I-494 and Xerxes Avenue. The City of Edina's Edinbourough Park and Centennial Lakes now sit on that spot.

Speaking of the Southtown Target at I-494 and Penn Ave. I know the Har-Mar Target in Roseville was very first Target Store ever. What I do not remember is the next two Target's built were the Crystal Target at West Broadway and Bass Lake Road and the Southtown Target at I-494 and Penn. Which one was second and which one was third. Was it Crystal then Bloomington or vice versa?

How about the drive-in at the end of Eden Prairie Airport? I remember many an evening watching slasher films as the 2-seat airplanes came rolling right the screen on their approach.

I don't recall a drive in on Xerxes although there was one on France & 494 that closed in 1982, Minnesota Center office building is located on that site now. I believe it was Uncle John's Pancake House that is located along the frontage road of this photo.

Flying Cloud Drive In closed in 1988 and that was the one that we most frequented.

There are still two other drive-ins left in the metro but apparently just four more remain operational in the state in: Litchfield, Long Prairie, Luverne and Warren (near Grand Forks).
