Default Where "Up North" do you Vacation??

Where Up North do you go on Vacation the most???
How often do you go Up North???

Duluth - Superior Coast
Brainerd Lakes Area - Mill Lacs Lake Area
Ely - Lake Vermillion Area
International Falls - Lake of the Woods Area
Red Lake Area
Grand Rapids - Hibbing - Virgina Area
Detroit Lakes - New York Mills Area
Bemidiji - Walker Area

Why do you choose to Vacation here?
Also what route do you take to get there and back? I'm curious to hear how people get around the I35 I94 traffic jams on Sunday Nights

DL, but its a little unfair, as I have relatives up there. Otherwise, we've done Duluth/North Shore a couple times. That area is great for us because we can do a day in Duluth and see the ships, maybe a play, go somewhere nice to eat, and then take the rest of the week further upshore and hike and have other fun.

I voted Detroit Lakes - New York Mills Area because it is closest.

I actually usually go somewhere that is between New York Mills and Fergus Falls on a map.

My grandparents have a couple hundred acres of land on the Otter Tail River. It was their farm for many years, but now they are retired and much of the extended family camps there on weekend during the summer. It was my grandfathers project after retirement to turn an old riverfront cow pasture into a private campground for the family. Now everyone loves going there and wonders why nobody thought of doing it many years earlier.

Had a friend in HS who's father built a little shack and party area on a piece of field riverfront to the Ottertail. We'd go upstream and tube down to their place. It was a great time (so were the graduation parties....)

I have had a cabin on a fairly large lake a few miles north of Brainerd for my whole life. My father went to the same place since he was born too. Its' a small modest cabin. A lot of my family goes up that area. My folks are there all the time in the summer, 3 nights a week probably. I go up about once a month in the summer for about 4 days at a time.

My family has always stuck to Walleye and Sunfish fishing. We go out tubing, water skiing, and for nightly put-putts around the lake with a cocktail. It's a great time and I love MN summers up north.

I'm surprised u didn't mention the Alexandria Lakes area
