I was actually more referring to the skyscraper/building structures. Well, that's what that architect-turned-musician was talking about.

I completely agree with the OP.

Minneapolis should easily surpass Detroit as the midwest's "2nd city" between now and 2030.

You guys have a lot of great things happening up there right now. It's definitely my 2nd favorite city in the Midwest, and definitly one of my favorite 10 in the conutry. It's an upbeat, PROGReSSIVe and growing city, which are all perfectly fine by me.

If it weren't so darn cold in the winter I would consider moving there.

Or one can do as I did during icepocalypse last year: go outside anyway and play in the snow.

What's your "cold" threshold?

I don't care for anything below 25*F. Anything below 15*F is unbearable

I'll take 90*F+ instead.

I understand you guys can't control the weather, I just can't handle that type of cold you guys tend to see.

At least around the Great Lakes, the warm waters tend to modify the colder air, which helps.

But otherwise, when it comes to everything else, I'm in love with Minneapolis.

I've lived in Minnesota for many decades but was never so cold as the winter I spent in Waukegan along Lake Michigan at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. That moist air would cut through you like a thousand needles when the wind would blow (which was pretty much all the time) and the constant overcast skies brought an additional element of gloom to the environment.

It's true. I've lived in Chicago and currently live in Cleveland and that wet cold air will make your bones rattle, unlike the (ultra) dry arctic air you get in MN, which is skin deep. Both suck though!

Heh. Can't wait for the next icepocalypse in Atlanta. Need to stock up on popcorn.

The MSP area already is the second city in the Midwest in some ways. For instance, it surpassed the Detroit area a while ago for size of the metro economy.
