I read or heard somewhere they was a place as an alternative to traditional high school. My son has high functioning Aspergers.

Is this a good area (Minnesota) for children or adults on the spectrum?

We live back east and want a total change where people have decent values and there are some jobs for those who want to work.

Okay, well that's my question 4 now.

Not sure about the Bloomington schools but the 196 School District has a specific special ed school but also special ed classes in all of the schools so you would have a choice. Most districts have some kind of alternative high school but those are typically for students that don't "fit" into the traditional school and usually had a lot of discipline problems, etc. in the traditional school.

I just did a quick Google search, not too thorough, but a few these sites may prove to be helpful:

ASD Info & Links | | West Metro Learning Connections, Inc

AUSM - Autism Society of Minnesota

Lionsgate Academy

Look up "Beacon Alternative" under district 271 schools. This is an program for students who need more one on one class time. Most of the classes are at Kennedy HS if I recall.

BEACON Alternative Learning Program | Bloomington Public Schools - District #271

Good luck - Bloomington is a great place to be.
