I had a ten hour layover at MPS yesterday, so I spent a few hours in the Warehouse District. Not sure if it was because of labour day weekend, but the whole neighbourhood was so alive.

I don't really know where I'm going with this, but I liked the feel of Minneapolis a lot. It was cool to see some police officers hanging out and joking around with the locals.

Usually when I travel around I can admire a city as a visitor, but also realize that I'm happy where I live...I could actually see myself living in Minneapolis, though.

But anyways, this is only based off of four hours in town. So maybe I'm off.

Glad you enjoyed your visit. I think your impressions are right on - Minneapolis is an awesome city. Lots of cool neighborhoods, a nice (and improving) downtown, great parks and a metro area. The trick of course is how would you like it in winter?

Cool!

The train from the airport sure makes it easy to make the best of a really, really, really long layover.

There's Downtown on the northbound, Mall of America on the southbound. Either one has to be so much better than sitting in the terminal for all that time.

I don't think you're going to find a ton of people here on C-D, sub-forum: Minneapolis, that are going to argue with your perception or tell you how wrong you are. I didn't know the Warehouse District was lively, to be honest, but it IS really chugging along with redevelopment and I'm sure a lot has changed since I've last been there (I moved away over a year ago -- NOT because I didn't like Mpls, but family reasons). I don't know where you hail from but Minneapolis can be a very easy and fun city to live in depending on your wants/needs and what you are used to.
