FL to MN...thoughts???

I would not suggest moving to a location without a job secured. Jobs may seem more plentiful in Mn because of a construction boom. I have heard a lot of construction workers are still on lay off from the previous recession. There are plenty of drug stores and CVS is expanding so Pharmacy Technician jobs should be in demand but I understand the pay is low even for experienced Techs.
If you and your husband can visit for awhile and test the waters may be a better choice rather than a cold move. You may find yourselves in a different culture than Fl. low on funds in the middle of Winter.
As far as family communities you might want to look at Rochester, a rapidly growing clean pleasant city.
Also for the construction business North Dakota is booming but Winters are more severe and the winds really whip across the plains.

Just a heads up. That's about the most violent difference in climate you are going to find in the country (southernmost to northernmost areas of the country). My grandmother had a "winter house" in Florida (she lived in Illinois during most of the year). I will never forget getting off the plane in the middle of Winter in Florida with my Winter gear. It was very surreal.
