If you live in east suburbs, is it worth driving over the state line and shopping in wisconsin? Are there any better grocery stores in hudson?

Hudson has Econofoods. I know Minnesota has some as well, but they are usually out in the boonies (New Prague, Norwood, Red Wing.etc). I hear some good things about it, but I have never shopped there.

I'm not sure as to what you mean by a "normal" grocery store? Rainbow, Byerly's, Lund's, and Super Value all seem pretty much like your typical run-of-the-mill grocery stores. Byerly's and Lunds (as well as Kawolski's) can be a little expensive, but the quality is worth it.

Whole foods, Rainbows, Kowaslki`s - those are even more expensive.
Aldi - I was surprised, but for example eggs and some other things are more expensive than Cub, that is not even funny.
So may be somebody knows if there is any grocery store, may be somewhere in suburbs, even northwestern Wisconsin is fine.

?? I think the grocery stores in Minneapolis are wonderful. I just came back from San Francisco and that is a place that lacks grocery stores. We have a great assortment here. I vary my shopping between Rainbow, Cub, Trader Joes. I love Kowalskis for the deli and more exotic types of foods. I don't buy deli meat at the Cub types of stores..Yuck! Festival Foods is another good grocery store. Located in Bloomington.

As I was having the same question (just move to MN from a week), I just want to summarize here.
Super Target, Rainbow, Cub, Trader Joes. Byerly's, Lund's, Kowalskis, Festival Foods ( Bloomington) are names mentioned here, looks like none of them can be your ultimate source of food
Byerly's, Lund's, Kowalskis are expensive but good meat quality
Super Target, Rainbow, Cub, Trader Joes hunt a deal in them
But what about costco, I did not find any one mention that.
I visit Cub and Target, Cub is overpriced, Target is also pricy compared to what I used to have in Toronto. I found hard time to find reasonable price Fruits or Veg.
Still open question from where should I buy reasonable-price, quality food

To the OP, I forgot to mention that Cub in the Suburbs, at least in Bloomington is rather nice. Same with Rainbow. I know that the Cub on Lake st. is kinda grody, which is funny because the Rainbow across the street is pretty darn nice for the most part.

I am looking forward to getting back to shopping at MN grocry stores after living in the southeast.
I will take Cub or Rainbow any time over Winn-Dixie, Publix, BI-LO, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, or Lowes Food.
