Default Renting an apartment - heat costs?

We just relocated to MN from CA, we are currently in a utilities-paid place but have to move in november, to a 2-bed apartment or duplex. Can anyone give me an idea about what heating is going to cost over the winter? I've heard people say things from $60 to $350 which isn't very helpful.... about what should we budget for?

Also, if anyone knows of a 1 or 2-bed apt/duplex with a garage and for a couple, a small dog and a toddler, please let me know looking in the mac/groveland summit cathedral hill downtown walkable neighborhood part of St Paul. Thanks! i've been checking craigslist and the pioneer press, is there any other places apartments are listed?

Not all, and most of the duplexs we've seen don't include utilities.

<Heat is included for many apartments.>

it is included in my rent..but I have no thermostat to control it, and they don't say how cold it has to get before they turn it on. I have an electric heater (not one of the little cheap ones) and I'm doing what I can to insulate.

People were being pretty honest with you when they said $60 to $350. It really comes down to how well insulated your place is, how warm you keep it, what kind of heat you have, etc. When we were first married we lived in an apartment and our neighbors kept their places so warm we didn't turn on our heat much at all. I think we spent about $20/month with electric heat. One place we lived had oil heat and that was about $100/month. You can check with the utility company to see what the previous renters paid for the past year.
