New to the Minneapolis area and moving to Coon Rapids in late March. Any suggestions for where to get a good price for groceries? Best meat department? A used furniture store that delivers? and finally, an honest dentist? Looking forward to being a part of the community.

Thanks

Your supermarket choices will be primarily Cub, Rainbow, Target, Walmart. These are generally interchangeable, and I'd probably just go to the one that is the closest. I think Target/Walmart have somewhat less selection.

Jensen's is a local supermarket at Foley and Northdale.

Aldi also has a few locations around.

If you want to go cheaper there's places like Mike's Discount Foods or Blaine Discount Foods (I might have the Blaine name wrong). These places have groceries that are REALLY cheap. Most of the stuff is near (past?) the expiration date though.

There are also a half dozen or so ethnic groceries along University (both along the Coon Rapids/Blaine border and south of Northtown in Fridley/Spring Lake Park). The ethnic groceries can be cheap for some things. There's a Ukranian market at U.S. 10 and Foley, but that place doesn't seem to have all that great of prices on things you could buy elsewhere.

If you want good bread there's a factory on Commerce just south of Osborne in Fridley. They have fantastic bread deals in their outlet store. You can get large "artisan" loafs for $1 or less. I think most of their stuff has been frozen, but I doubt most people could tell the difference between it and fresh loaves bought for 3 or 4 (or more) times the price elsewhere. Near there is Bob's Produce Market. Sometimes they have good deals on produce.

Bob's probably has the best meat department around. A closer option to many parts of Coon Rapids would be Von Hanson's which is a butcher shop chain. I haven't been very impressed with the meat departments at the supermarkets. Maybe it would be worth checking out Jensen's for meat?
