Love everything else.
Minnesota is the "natural choice" for winter-haters.

Get out of the cities and you have corn fields for as far as the eye can see. BORING!

I hate that there is so much distain for how Minnesota used to be and so much political correctness to hide the truth. The mix of people living there now is not as high quality as it used to be.
I think there are more than enough lakes, rivers, and forests to break the occasional monotony of corn fields in Minnesota (especially compared to Iowa, Nebraska, the eastern Dakotas and much of Illinois).

Well, after all, there are many alternative places to live. First question: What is their downside. The fact that people live here when they could live anywhere in the 50 states tells me that other places have some unidentified downside.

dislikes.

1. winters are too long and too cold
2. lack of african americans in the suburbs and when they do live in the suburbs, they are too spread out. minneapolis and st paul is the only place i can go and see more than 10 of us at a time.
3. too isolated. im from the east where a bus or train ride to new york, philly and dc is about an hour or 2 away
4. no dunkin donuts or krispy kremes. and no jamaican food. man i miss my jamaican jerk chicken. but of course this is a more healthy state so thats a good thing too.

likes.
1. family oriented. sometimes the hustle and bustle of a big city can wear on you. minneapolis is great for me in that its more slow pace
2. low crime.

LOL. You must like the chain of lakes, though, or is your screen name evidence of a self hatred thing you got going on. Either way, you must be a real picnic to hang out with.
