Cheap Stylish Reliable Furniture, Any good deals?
I had searched this forum before post the question but could not find the answer. Please forgive me if it is repeated but i really need answers and thoughts. I just move to St Paul, MN, I rent an apartment and looking to find good deals for furniture. I'm looking for simple but reliable bedroom with good mattress, l-a-z boy sofa, small dinette. is there any place to get them at once, or I have to buy each one separately? from where?
I looked in Ikea, Slumberland (so over-priced) but wonder if I'm looking in the right place. I know there is still Macy, Hom, but do these stores offer good deal, please any thoughts and suggestion are much appreciated.
Is there any street near St Paul from small retailers?

I would look into smaller stores. You may or may not find them all at once, but prices may be a little cheaper. The HOMs and Slumberlands are generally the same, and the stuff is not really designed for apartments as much as it is for large homes. IKEA is cheap, and on apartment scale, but doesn't hold up great. Bedding there is pretty bad. Also go to a few estate sales, they take patience but ultimately have nice pieces.

Estate Sales are almost always when someone dies, but it is always a person who is moving from their home and are selling most of its contents. You literally go through the house and items are priced. Like in inside garage sale. They happen year-round. Some are better than others. Usually occur on weekends, but sometimes on Thursdays and Fridays. There is a section of them advertised in the Star Tribune classifieds.

Although not the most desirable of stores, you might have some luck at Big Lots (the only one I of is on Hwy 7 in St Louis Park). They usually have some bedroom sets, dinettes and living room furniture. Might be worth a try!

Another good place to check no matter where you live is Thrift stores or Goodwill. You could also check garage sales and such. You would be surprised what people get rid of for next too nothing.
I have a friend who has an antique business and he always checks out the thrift stores and goodwills that are in nice neighborhoods because he finds such wonderful stuff.

You might want to also try the HomeGoods department of TJMaxx, although they won't have large furniture, you can usually find good deals on bedding, rugs, lamps and other home accessories.
