Apple Valley is a great area--excellent schools, convenient amenities, good selection of housing styles from apartments, townhomes, single family homes. It is convenient to both Minneapolis and St. Paul (especially when Cedar/35 is done).

I love Apple Valley...lived here for less than a year. Have found it to be very convenient (they have everything from Home Depot to Target to Perkins). The only thing I feel is lacking is a true "downtown" area to make this feel more like my own town and less like a commuter city. Other than that, very quiet, great schools, very convenient to the Metro area.

I think once they are done with that Commons area off Galaxy it will become sort of a downtown area though. I love the townhome/rowhomes in that area and some of the smaller shops moving in will bring some foot traffic.

20 minutes from Minneapolis or St. Pul...We are a young, fast and exciting Suburb to live in. We are a very high demand city to move to and live in. There are 50 city parks and 65 miles of biking/walking trails to use. There is a city park W/ in a half mile of every home. (We are home to the Minnesota Zoo.) A great deal of our city population is college educated, most have their Master's Degree's and Most are married and have 2-3 children. Most drive a Suburban, or a Mini-van.
(Forb's.com..... 24th best city to live in for 2008)
We have two Super Target's, a SuperCenter Wal-Mart, Bestbuy, Menards, and HomeDepot, and many other big name stores. We also host over 100 resturants.
Ther are many places to work and play. You will not get board in Apple Valley. We are very friendly people, and we are proud to live to live in Apple Valley Minnesota!

It's a modern American suburb, which depending on your point of view is either a positive or a negative. I personally find it very boring and not at all to my taste, but for many others it's an ideal place to live. One big thing setting Apple Valley apart from the Twin Cities' many other bland modern American suburbs is the MN Zoo; it's a great place, and if you end up living there you should consider getting an annual membership/pass; it's worth every penny.

This poster basically revived every topic mentioning Apple Valley from the last 3 years to talk it up. I think one day when I'm bored I'll do the same thing for every topic ever made about South Minneapolis....in all honesty though, it's a little irritating.

I generally do not like suburbs, but Apple Valley offers some great things most don't. No interesting restaurants or nightlife (aside from the cougar bar Majors), but it does have the Minnesota Zoo
