When I was in my 20's... not that long ago...for drinking can't beat Liquor Lyles, Uptown Bar & Cafe had a friend as a barkeep there, clubbin wasn't into the dress to impress crowd went to First ave I realize its not what it once was. St. Paul is mostly neighborhood bars. I could go on and on... Downtown bars along 1st ave/warehouse district etc. are pretty much the default spot. Uptown pretty much the same deal. just walk around those areas and find your scene. College crowd goes to Dinkytown.

Uptown generally is a fun area-- especially Calhoun Square- lots of places such as Independent, Sushi Tango, Chino Latino is across the street too. Uncommon Grounds coffee shop used to be popular as well.
