Default Schools around Bloomington

My husband and I are planning to move to MN in the next year. He'll likely get a job in Bloomington around the I-494/Hwy-100 area. I wanted to know besides the 196 school district what are the other good choices. Eg: How's the Savage/Shakopee/Chaska area? We would like to buy at least 0.5 acres for no more than 350K. He's also willing to commute 30-40min in rush hour.

Any suggestions?

There would be some city lots in Bloomington that would be in the half-acre range. The city also has good schools. Chaska has a better reputation than do Shakopee and Savage. Chaska would also be a little more expensive.

SKIP SHAKOPEE!!!!!!!!! We made the mistake of building there a few years ago before our kids started school. When we checked out the schools, we quickly put our house on the market and moved to Lakeville. Shakopee was a pit. School, the community, it was all awful. bloomington to lakeville is an easy commute (my husband is in that area for work) and we've been thrilled with the schools/community.
