I absolutely hate the cold weather and snow yet I continue to live in Minnesota. I got really depressed yesterday when we had the snowfall and locked myself up in my house last night and refused to leave. If I could get my same job and my same school program in a warm climate and get all my friends and family to move there, I would do it

I totally agree with you on that point, cvanripe!

Of course, here in MN during our (so called) bad weather, we can add extra layer as much as we want; but in the hot humid tropics, there is only so much you can take off! And even if you end up nude there; you can still be too hot!

as one gets older the winters start to "wear" on you. Yes, I too will be relocating to a milder climare soon (we signed purchase agreements to sell our property, but are giving the buyer more time to sell his house)

Doing research the past few years, someone asked in a magazine that recommended retirement destinations, why they don't recommend more Northern cities.

The answer given was " despite the claim that retirees love to snomobile, cross country ski, ice fish, and go for walks in the snow, the reality is retirees spend much more time indoors watching tv during winter in Northern areas"
Retirees should have the option to do what they want ( even watching tv) but it should not be a forced option from "mother nature"

Do people in Sun City play alot of golf when it is 112*?
You have worked your whole life to retire; winter is a good excuse to go to Europe. You have nothing better to do.

What would they then do with the remaining ten hours of the day? Watch television with the air conditioning on the arctic setting?

Sorry, but the climate in Phoenix is much too hot for most people these days. With the huge heat island that the city has the low temperature during portions of the summer does not even get below 95F at times. That is horrific in my book.
I will take the colder air any day of the week. During the winter there are many activities you can partake in like ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice hockey, skiing, etc.
The right type of winter clothing and layers makes all the difference in the world.

The way Slig feels about winter is how I feel about hot humid summers.
