Hey Everyone,

I have heard that starting tomorrow at 8am, Minneapolis is putting their winter parking restrictions into place where you can't park on the even side of non snow emergency routes until April 1st or the city says otherwise. One of the non snow emergency routes by my apartment only allows parking on the even side unless it is even side plow day when parking on the odd side is allowed. So, do any of you know what the rules will be for a situation like this? Will there just be no parking on either side of the street? Or will they lift the ban on the odd side that is normally in place?

I am pretty sure when they plow the even side, you can't park there. Only between snow emergencies are you banned from parking there. Move to the odd side and stay there after the third day of plowing.

Hmm, might want to call 311 to find out more about that. Sounds like you might have an issue, though I'd watch to see what other people do. It sounds like some South Minneapolis streets have additional restrictions in place (I seem to recall Bryant and Grand in particular) that I sort of glossed over since I'm a SE Minneapolis resident, where they might have no parking at all in certain spots?

Now is a time I'm glad I'm not an Uptown resident with a car. It's a hassle--but doable--to deal with bad parking when it's a three-day snow emergency. It's a nightmare when it's a month and a half.

The new restrictions are only allowing parking on one side of the street all the time because the streets are too narrow now with the snow piled up.

I think this is saying what I was trying to say. And yes, as emergencies have come and gone, the snow gets further into streets each time. Not exactly sure what they do on streets without the boulevard. Some snow emergency routes are becoming like one way streets in some blocks. Not good if on a bus route. If you're driving and you see a bus at the far end of the block, you best not even try to enter that block.
