I will be moving up in August and plan on buying a bike to get from home to school and for errands. I know the Twin Cities are bike-friendly, but I'm looking for a bike shop up there that sells Jamis bikes. Is there one? If not, what is the best bike shop in the area, or where would you recommend I go to get my bike? I'm going to be just looking for a comfort bike/cruiser. Suggestions? Thanks!

The Hub carries Jamis bikes and when I bought my Coda Sport 2 years ago they had the best prices in the metro. Their Minnehaha location is their largest with their best selection.

The Hub Bike Co-op (4 locations in Minneapolis, including the U) and NOW fitness in St. Paul (next to Cheapo Records) both sell Jamis, probably many other places across the metro as well.

There are a LOT of bike shops here. Also a lot of options if you want to buy used, like craigslist and places that specifically sell 2nd hand. If you specifically want Jamis new is probably the way to go, if you've got the money. I'm cheap and I like vintage Chicago Schwinns. Since I moved here four years ago, I have a growing fleet I got mostly from craigslist, thrift shops, bike salvage places, etc.

Does it have to be Jamis?

I do not recommend expensive bicycles for commuting.
