If you eat meat and like Persian food, check out Caspian Bistro near the U.

I just moved here and am rebuilding our go to restaurant list.

I'm still looking for good, Mexican, Pho/Banh Mi, Thai, Dim Sum.

I'm not at all familiar with Somali food, but we're up for anything-- and our kids are 6, 9, and 11 so they (mostly) behave in public.

My kids and husband will thank you for the pizza joint suggestion (I'm gluten free -- and not by choice-- so pizza is genuinely tortuous for me as it's my absolute favorite, LOL-- but I can usually find a salad to tide me over while I silently curse my inability to tolerate gluten). I just googled what a Juicy Lucy is and that definitely sounds up our alley, thanks!
If you want gluten-free pizza, Pizza Luce is a local chain with a ton of gluten free options. They're good, too -- and I say that as someone who is NOT gluten free!

They also have a pretty good selection of vegan and vegetarian choices. Especially with a vegan teen and vegetarian preteen.

Yeah - we go to the St. Paul Pizza Luce a lot. There's one in Richfield, which is right near Bloomington.

You have NO idea how very happy you've just made this gluten free girl-- I canNOT wait to try that pizza, it looks AHmazing. I'm beyond impressed at how many restaurants in and around Minneapolis are allergen friendly-- a marked difference to what I'm used to here in FL. I think Minnesota and I are going to get along quite nicely.

But, no Greek, Mexican, Thai or diners? Bummer, guess I won't get away without cooking after all

I'm only really familiar with St. Paul, but there are plenty of Thai places here (we like Supatra on West 7th). There is also a concentration of Mexican places in District Del Sol, across the river from downtown St. Paul, and a section of East Lake St. in Minneapolis with good Mexican food, including Midtown Global Market. Dunno about Greek. Mickie's Diner is sort of a landmark in downtown St. Paul but we were pretty disappointed by it - super greasy and not in a good way. We do like the Uptowner Cafe at Lexington and Grand, also in St. Paul.

Quang on Eat Street (2719 Nicollet Ave to be exact) for great Vietnamese food. Their vermicelli salads are really good, especially the ones with egg rolls. And the staff is great.
