Have any fun christmas activity ideas???
I'm trying to plan a weekend of fun Holiday activites in the Cities, hitting Nicollet Mall, the Holidazzle parade, and I know some good areas for having Christmas lights but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on really great areas in the metro/burbs that go all out on their Christmas lights, or a house so decorated it's a must see or of any fun "best kept secret" things to do related to the Holidays from those of you who know the area really well?? Thanks so much!!!

WCCO used to have a place to keep track of the best Christmas Displays in the metro. I am not sure if they still do that. I know there is one house west of Faribault on Highway 60 that goes all out.
I know that Sioux Falls SD is a GREAT place to go see Christmas displays. They have 100's of neighborhoods that have themes and every house in the neighborhood decorates to that theme.

bobloblaw - i like you're name, do you have a law blog that you post on?
This isn't helpful to your post at all, but you just missed "Holiday on 44th" in my neighborhood (Victory/ Webber-Camden). It was great - all the businesses/ restaurants were having great specials/ giveaways, there were hay rides, craft fairs, ice and wood sculptures being carved, free roasted chestnuts/ hot chocolate/ apple cider, a choir and carolers, henry high's band did a little parade, etc., etc. - it was straight out of some 50s kitsch but it was great, unfortunately it's only an annual neighborhood event but you should plan on hitting it next year!
The victory neighborhood has an annual Christmas Lights contest, but I feel like the weather has been so bad for putting up lights (since thanksgiving weekend it's either been snowstorming or crazily cold) that it's not as great as in recent years.

Rice Park in St. Paul
I've heard that in the past they really lit this park up, never seen it myself but could be an option...

There are the ice sculptures on view in Rice Park, probably prettier to look at at night with all the lights.

Bandana Square lights up the trains in the train museum for Christmas. I have heard it is pretty cool but have not been there.
