That would not be a fun commute.

I replied in the other post on this topic. The commute will take about 35 minutes.

Factor in where you are in Woodbury.

During rush hour, I-94 clogs up frequently along Woodbury/Lake Elmo in the morning and again in the afternoon in good weather. In the mornings. Woodbury surface roads (Lake or Valley Creek) or 10th Street in Lake Elmo can be quicker than I-94 to travel east-to-west in the mornings, but "quicker than I-94" in morning rush hour still takes at least 10-12 minutes in itself in good conditions if you are in eastern Woodbury heading west, just to get across Woodbury.

Shoreview is about 14 miles from Coon Rapids (depending on where you are traveling from and to in each City), so it would be about half the commute time from Woodbury.

Shoreview is a very nice suburb with good schools and is definitely an option worth considering.

Are you considering a suburban environment only or is urban living an option? If you could tell us more about what you're looking for, we can give more specific suggestions.

You don't have to go through the cities so the traffic won't be that bad. Shoreview is a much better commute.

Why not Woodbury itself?

Yes Shoreview is a great community that has great schools. Vadnais Heights, Arden Hills are great too. White Bear lake or township would be a good area to commute from to Woodbury as well, but I didn't like the high school there.

But heading towards Woodbury from any of these areas you can have standstill traffic during rush hour and in the winter it can easily slip into 2 hours during snow or storms.
