Default Moving To Hopkins from Michigan

Can anyone tell my wife and I about safe, clean and professionally managed rental units in Hopkins, Eden Prarie or Minnetonka?

We also need info on commute times from these three areas into Minneapolis. We have heard that the commutes are brutal. How would these be?

As well as info on buying homes in the above-mentioned areas that will be away from light and noise pollution (we are sky and wild life gazers).

Please advise as to which SW locations we would want to stay away from.

Hopkins is a nice community. It feels more like a separate small town than a suburb. Eden Prairie and Minnetonka feel too "developed" and new to me.

From Hopkins or the eastern part of Minnetonka, the commute should be fine. My commute from Minnetonka to downtown is 15-20 minutes per day. It is nothing like what you see in most major cities where it is at least an hour from the close-in suburbs.

Thanx for the info...it sounds like we picked the right area to move to for us, from Michigan.

We have been keeping tabs on the housing market and it seems as though prices are coming down. Does anyone know the effect of the market on prices in these areas?

Home prices are up in Eden Prairie 19%. Up 3% in Minnetonka and down 5% in Hopkins. That's from November, 2006 to November, 2007. No change in sales for Hopkins during that period. Sales are almost 50% less in Eden Prairie and down 30% in Minnetonka during that period.
