i only like going to target for snacks. their meat department is horrible. i usually go to cub for meats. Do you know of any good butcher markets? and seafood markets? that are well worth the drive. preferably the edina richfield area. but willing to go to south minneapolis, st louis park areas.

Coastal Seafood! They have two locations--one in St. Paul and one in Minneapolis. I don't think there is any better fish market in the Twin Cities. They have items flown in fresh that I have only seem frozen elsewhere locally.

I can't help with butchers, though. My parents have a farm so I am spoiled in that regard.

I also recommend Coastal as first rate. We get our meats in bulk from a small town butcher, but locally I could recommend Everett's on 38th and Cedar for their fine meat dept. I have heard good things about Clancy's in Linden Hills, but it seems pricey to me.

My brother-in-law, a major foodie who spends a lot of time in the kitchen and in front of the grill, swears by Von Hanson's Meats. However, I don't believe they do much in the way of seafood, save for some shrimp platters. They have a dozen or so locations across the metro.

Ditto Von Hanson's for non-seafood meats. Except we get our pork products from Tollefson at the Mpls farmer's market.

Coastal Seafood doesn't have a good track record with us. We stick mostly to several canned products from Vital Choice online.

You might want to look into meat CSAs also.

Can't believe no one mentioned Everett's off of Cedar Avenue! Excellent butchery, great customer service! If you want to go organic with meat and seafood, of course, there are the co-ops (Seward, Wedge, etc.), Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's. Coastal Seafood is a good recommendation; never had an issue with them. LOVE their salmon.

Coastal is good, but if it is too far to reach on a regular basis consider Kowalski's if you are looking for fresh wild caught fish.

We get our meat at 3 places (well, 4, if you count Costco).

Big Steer Meats (White Bear Ave and Minnehaha on the East Side), Stokke's in Maplewood on Frost (we love their ground Italian Sausage...makes great meatballs), and Stasny's on the North End...Western and Maryland area.

All 3 are fantastic, as are the people who work there. It is just really whatever we are nearby, and what we are in the mood for.

Hackenmueller's in Robbinsdale is an excellent meat market.

I'll also get meat like roasts and pork chops at Costco.
