I've never been to Pov's in Andover but i think that's a busy place as well.

maybe grumpy's has improved but it used to be sort of a dive. i shot darts there for a time and while it was a good time, it wasn't a place i'd want to spend much time at.
Grumpy's is supposed to be a sort of dive. It was started by the people who did AmRep.

Pov's is lame.

Bottom line, it depends on what kind of crowd you want. the suburbs and city have a very segregated scene, especially when it comes to the younger crowd. To greatly over generalize but put in perspective... think trucks, beer, and football in the suburbs / think 300 dollar jeans, wine, and modern scandinavian furniture in the city. Again, not a fair generalization but it gives you an idea.

There is a new place in Anoka that's pretty fun. It's called B-Side and they have great food and a fun atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. It's kind of strange right now, because they just opened a few weeks ago and so they are in the middle of renovations and they don't have any entertainment except the jukebox, but I've heard they are bringing in live music soon so that should be cool. But right now I like it because it's not terribly loud and my friends and I can actually hear each other talk without screaming! LOL. I am usually there on Saturdays with my friends.

If you like clubbing go downtown, right by the Target center is "E" block...there are a ton of clubs that people go to.

I'd have to agree with talktobrent. I usually go to Downtown, with occasional stops in Uptown, Nordeast Mpls, and Grand Ave. in St. Paul. There are a lot of good happy hours downtown, so make sure to check those out.

Just don't go there if you expect to *talk* to your friends; it's been pretty loud in those clubs when I've been there.

Given your demographic, chakita, avoid Moose Country in Mendota Heights at all costs!
