Macy as high-end? you must be kidding. My only disappointment after moving to the twin cities was the lack of decent shopping. My wife and I have to take a trip once a quarter to chicago or new york just to go shopping. And I know we aren't the only ones.
Hopefully, a Nordstrom, Barneys or Saks will be included in Phase Two.

Do you not live in MN?? ...there already IS a nordstrom at MOA...
And where do you go shopping for high-end things? The reason may not be that it doesn't exist, just that you don't know where to find it

Yes, a lack of rich people is Minnesota's problem

when are they going to build this phase 2? i have been waiting to see it happen. im not sher it will get built and if it does its 4.2 million sq feet now and the add on is going to be 5.6 million sq feet for a total of 9.8 million sq feet. west edmonton mall is no longer the largest mall, china has a much larger mall and if minnesota waits to long china will probably build a mall over 10 million sq feet anyways. the south china mall is over 7 million sq feet.

Yes, Macy's. In particular the one at Southdale and the one on Nicolet are actually pretty high-end. Keep in mind that at one point in time these stores were once a Dayton's, then Marshall Fields-both of which were the premier department stores in Minneapolis. The only thing that has changed is the name. The Macy's in Southdale caters to two rich suburbs, so yeah it's high end-on comparison to Nordstrom's.

And, as lakal pointed out---there already is a Nordstrom's at the Mall of America. It's been there for years.

i know that. i was referencing the type of store, not the specific banner themselves. Also with regard to your point about Marshall Field's/Dayton/Macy's. The store went significantly downmarket when everything was renamed Macy.

mall of america is trying to look like caesars palace in las vegas....i dont think the malls here realize that minnesotans are conservative to death with their money so adding stores like chanel, dior, jimmy choo and such are going to be a waste.

Not really, while the market for such may not be huge in this state, you got to keep in mind that the MOA is, arguably, mostly a tourist attraction, and tourist will by this stuff.....along with the ghetto fabulous.
