No, and with out getting political with the issue I will simply say that the amount of revenue that this place is going to make will far surpass any tax that is paid.

Would people feel better if the mall go their money through taxes in Bloomington?

Hopefully, a Nordstrom, Barneys or Saks will be included in Phase Two.

Last time I was in town Nordstrom was still at the MOA and Saks was still downtown. Isn't there another high end dept. store downtown like Neiman Marcus?

Try living in South Dakota.

Yes there is a Neiman Marcus store in downtown Minneapolis. The only one in the state.

A. There is still a Nordstrom at the Mall.
B. High-end shopping and Minnesota just don't jive. We can afford it (actually, moreso than most states). We just culturally don't. It is the same reason why we spend the most per capita in the nation on restaurants, but it is hard for any Las Vegas-style restaurant to do well here. No Minnesotan wants the glitz. It is also one of the reasons why there aren't more Dept. Stores along Nicollet. They put a Saks and a Neiman Marcus downtown. They needed a Sears -- seriously.

^I agree. For some reason (the Scandinavian/German heritage??) Minnesotans are loathe to make a display of wealth. Given that the Twin Cities are among the uppermost financial elite cities in corporate America ( see this thread), it's odd that this area does not make a bigger statement in terms of ostentatious wealth. But maybe that's a good thing.
Maybe it's the realization that wealth, if used selfishly and not applied conscientiously, is ultimately useless to society. And maybe that's why the wealth of the Twin Cities has been so well utilized.

You really notice the modesty of Minnesotans when you travel in the South. Those are some of the poorest states, and they are what I call some of the "showiest" states. They like to portray a wealthy image. Especially when it comes to their vehicles. Being that we are one of the richest states, I'm also surprised that displays of wealth are not more prevalent.
