Red face Best Choices for Safety/Schools/Family

Hi there--
First time poster!
My wife and I are packing up our home in suburban Milwaukee and moving to the burbs of the Twin Cities-- but that's about all we know!

We need your help on finding a neighborhood that:
has a low crime rate
has a high percentage of young families (we have two toddler girls)
has great schools (see above)
AND a synagogue and church nearby (we are a mixed couple... I'm Jewish, my wife is Lutheran)

Thoughts?

We can't wait!

The Western suburbs have the highest concentration of Jews; and, as a corollary, synagogues. Minnetonka is a little older physically, but is popular among alot of families. It has a very natural setting and relatively large lots. Parts of the city are in Minnetonka or Hopkins schools, both of which are well-regarded. I'm not completely up on Milw., but if I knew where in the city you were from I could probably find a pretty comparable area in The Cities. A few more things on the want list would help me give a more detailed response also.

Eagan would also be a good area to consider. Mendota Heights has a very high population of Jewish people but it is an older community. Eagan is next door, younger community, EXCELLENT schools and minutes away from at least 2 synagogues-chances are you would want to go to Mount Zion on Summit Ave in St. Paul from what our Jewish friends have told us--more 'mixed' faith couples attend there. Finding a Lutheran church in MN is pretty easy no matter where you live.

Are you dead-set on a suburb? If so, Richfield, Edina, St. Louis Park all come to mind depending on your price range.

I live in Southwest Minneapolis (Fulton neighborhood, bordering with Lynnhurst neighborhood) and I highly recommend it. While it isn't a suburb it is safe, friendly, easy to get around and plenty to do (especially with children). Great schools. Many Lutheran churches and an active synagogue.
