Hi friends,

I just moved to twin cities for a job assignment. I am wondering which stores would have cheap used furniture.

thanks.

Used furniture is as cheap as it ever has been and has been falling in price for several years now. Your best bet is an Auction or an estate sale, where a few dollars can get you a house full. Second choices would be a used furniture or thrift shop, like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or other Charity shops. Its out there by the ton.

Your best bet is likely either Craigslist and the "garage sale" sites on Facebook-- there's one for virtually every suburb and I'm sure there's one for each Minneapolis and St Paul-- I furnished my entire den/playroom (couch: $150 for a HUGE, gorgeous almost-new sectional; 2 lamps for $10; a coffee table for $10; two end tables for $5 and a sofa table for FREE) and my deck (table: FREE; chairs: 6 for $90, including cushions; deck box: $20; indoor/outdoor rug: $10)-- from a combo of Craigslist and FB. I also found a Whirlpool Gold fridge with a freezer on the bottom for $100 (and the guy delivered it to my house!) and a smooth top range for $35 (we're in a rental and I couldn't deal with the existing appliances)

It definitely took a bit of time to find things that I wanted-- but you would NEVER know that these are second hand finds-- some I painted (like the coffee table and end table), but they would have been fine as is-- and I'm SUPER picky and like to believe that I'm fairly stylish (but also super frugal!)

Look at Free on Craigslist. Ton of stuff on there. People moving away, don't have time to sell.

this time of year your best bet will be garage sales or craigslist. If you need to supplement with anything new, there's an IKEA in Bloomington by the the Mall of America.
