Default Thinking of moving to Eden Prairie

My family currently lives in Virginia. I've just obtained a job in Minneapolis. We're considering moving to Eden Prairie due to it being ranked as one of the best places to live in the country. Is the high ranking well-deserved? The main concerns of my wife and I are good schools for our five-year old daughter, low crime, and a family-friendly town.

Eden Prairie is your typical suburb. It has excellent schools. It is a pretty affluent community and they tend to be on the snobbier side but you can find that anywhere. The high school is HUGE, graduates about 1200/year. You can expect by the time your 5 year old is in high school that there will probably be 2 high schools in the area.

Where is your job exactly. While Eden Prairie is a nice town, you wouldn't want to live there if your job was say in Shoreview--awful commute. There are great places all over the metro area that are as good as if not better then Eden Prairie so you have a lot of choices of places near your job.

west metro seems like the area you want. you might want to check out Minnetonka as well or the part of Chanhassen that is in the Minnetonka school district.
