I'm wondering which of the local shops would be my best bet for selling some depression-era, nesting green glass bowls. My mother downsized and this is one of the items she asked me to help her sell. I don't want to put it on ebay or similar and have to deal with shipping. What local shops have a good reputation, or specialize in this kind of item? Do you think craigslist would fetch her a better a price?

You'd likely do best if you find someone to list on eBay for you (a trading assistant), they'll deal with the listing (taking photos, etc) and shipping-- they'll take a percentage of the selling price, but you'll still likely come out ahead vs Craigslist or consignment.

I haven't looked in a long while, but trading assistants used to be listed and searchable by location and specialty on eBay's site.

I'd list them on Craigslist or some of the Facebook local pages such as "Vintage Minneapolis buy/ sell" or "Vintage Minnesota ~A Market place where shops and shoppers meet!."

Consignment shops generally take 40% or more of the sale price.

This is a great idea. There is one of these with a storefront at Yorkdale next to Chuck and Don's.

Ebay now has 'valets' and they take 40% (they ended the trading assistant program).

Will check out the fb pages.
