Eden Prairie Appliance Outlet is great. Many things are considered "scratch and dent" but have absolutely nothing wrong with them (often they repair the problem before putting it on the floor). We have purchased from them several times. They will also watch for specific items for you and call if they come in.

ApplianceSmart is pretty good too.

If you don't need things immediately, I think it makes a lot more sense to go that route then to buy from a regular appliance store. You can either save some money or get better appliances.

I agree that ApplianceSmart is a good place. Their location in SLP is HUGE with a lot of good deals. Word of warning, though: their website does not list what their actual in-store prices are. I think the web prices are "list" prices -- so don't go by that!

Just the thread I was looking for! I heard that Guyer's is going out of business...anyone ever use them in the past or have an idea of their regular pricing. You'd think they'd be getting rid of their inventory and deep discounting, right?

Scratch and dent? Do most stores carry those kind of appliances?

Appliancesmart is having some kind of a tent sale right now. I didn't stop in but saw it driving by.

I did very well at ApplianceMart. (apple valley) I negotiated/bartered and bought all of my appliances for my home ( all are Professional series, high end...for $4000 less than they had them marked for. Remember that January and July are also clearance months..good luck. DO NOT go to Warner Stellian!

This was either a huge purchase. Or they had an abnormally large markup on the items. Because the profit margin in appliances is very small.

You are 100% right about purchasing in July. During the month of July, person can really dicker and get very good deals. The holiday sales are nothing compared to the discounts a person can snag in July.

Well we went to Guyer's, Appliance Smart, that Eden Prairie Appliance Outlet Center, Home Depot and Lowes.

We're in the market for a dishwasher and fridge right now. Believe it or not, Home Depot had the cheapest dishwasher...but it's not what we're looking for...and they have a fridge I fell in love with -- not to mention it's price! We bought appliances from HD in the past, so I have no qualms about that...but I'm going to have to take a couple days and mull over our options. Thanks so much for the suggestions!

I will agree with July seeming to be a great appliance shopping month. Deep discounts and extra perks galore. Works out well for us!
