Question Good Restaurant for anniversary?

My wife and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary and I want to take here somewhere fun and different. I'm not looking for a super spendy high class place to dine. I'd like to find a restaurant that's off the beaten path that has excellent food and romantic atmosphere. Anywhere in the Cities is fine...we don't mind driving.

If you don't want anything fancy, I've always been a fan of the Steak & Ale we used to frequent in Bloomington, and my wife and I thought the Olde English atmosphere was nice enough that we had our rehearsal dinner there.

For something semi-fancy but still affordable, here's a restaurant just outside of Shakopee that I think has a very romantic atmosphere called Dangerfield's which might be worth considering.

I don't know what you consider 'expensive' but Forepaughs in St. Paul is a neat place (I think it is still open?). Ok, here is a link to their website: Forepaugh's: Continental Cuisine in our Historic Victorian Mansion!

The Afton House in Afton is nice. Oh, the Lake Elmo Inn in Lake Elmo also has GREAT food. It is a nice atmosphere.

How far is 'you don't mind driving"? How about 3 hours??? THere is a GREAT steak place out in the middle of nowhere in SW MN that has the BEST steaks anywhere.

How about?

W.A.Frost on Western and Selby (ask for table near the fireplace) in St. Paul?

Kozlak's in Shoreview

Ruth Crist steakhouse

Does the Lowell Inn still exist? Anyone know?

The Lexington in Saint Paul

Jax Cafe - North Mpls

Fabulous Ferns - on Selby in St. Paul

I think in Prescott, WI there is a restaurant on the river.

The Saint Paul Hotel

Oceanaire for seafood

Some of these are pricey.

Congratulations and happy anniversary!

I forgot about WA Frost! It is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse if you are looking for info on that. Great food--AWESOME sweet potatoes and I don't even like sweet potatoes, pretty expensive though.

The Lowell Inn in Stillwater is still there.

The Vintage in St. Paul is romantic, small scale, not too pricey and has a great wine selection!

Kinbrae Steak House in Kinbrae. It is south of Fulda, MN, about 20 north of Worthington. The town has a grain elevator and the steakhouse. The outside of the restaurant looks like it would fall over in a stiff wind but the inside is beautiful. They have a 30 foot long mahogany bar that is unbelievable. They butcher and process their own meat (originally started as a butcher shop). Best steaks anywhere and pretty reasonable, about $50-60/couple depending on how much you drink.
