Have you looked around the MN forum to see if this topic has been discussed before? On the MN forum page 1, there is a thread about this; or if you go to page 2 of this MPLS- St. Paul forum, there are 2 threads on this topic. There is also a thread about gay couples on one of these 2 forums; read that too. Or go even farther back on either forum and see how many times this topic has been posted before; you can read ALL of those posts and see what the general responses are.

There are bi-racial, inter-racial, multi-racial couples here by whatever name you wish; and it is a common site.

This isn't Milwaukee or Chicago.

If we seem a bit "testy" about this topic; I think it's been discussed ad nauseum myself.

One way to get some idea, with any city, is to go to Craigslist Rants and Raves section.
Cities on the leftcoast, don't get as much racist postings as cities back east. Minneapolis seems to be somewhere in the middle, regarding this.
Just my opinion.

Here's the most honest answer;

Whites; Minnesotans in general are pretty reserved in general so a white Minnesotan who is also a hard core racists will never let it be known (unlike other cities in the West, East and South).

Blacks; Not all, but a lot of the blacks in Minneapolis are from Chicago or Atlanta. They come to MPLS with this attitude that if you are white then you are automatically racists and not only that but you are also afraid of them simply because they are black (and you are white). I can't count how many times I have been called a racist simply because I didn't give a black pan-handler some change.

Native Americans; Once again, this doesn't apply to every single one of them, but most do not like whites and in some cases, blacks. Some of you may be saying, Well, no sh*t dude. What do you expect?, but still. What happened to their people was lame for sure, but aside form any possible secret government eugenics program, they are the one's who are keeping themselves down these days.

Samolis/Ethiopians; They stay amongst themselves for the most part, and generally only have beef towards American blacks.

Heh. I dropped most of my high school friends when I went to college in Mankato, and it's my college friends that I hung around with up there for the next 25 years.

I would say that the typical Minnesotan hangs out with people who are at a similar point in their life. If your best friend is single and childless and you are married with 3 young kids chances are you aren't going to get together as much as you once did and will probably drift apart.
Yup, that happens even within tight groups of friends. We still see each other a few times a year (the annual cabin trip, a second get-together around the holidays, etc.), but many of the married guys didn't come to the monthly gaming nights and such as often as the single guys did. Some still did, though. The fact that my wife got along with my friends made that part easier.

regionalperspective is on a distinguished road
POC, with particular emphasis on AAmales have statistically significant higher rates of interaction with the police in minneapolis and st. paul. Minneapolis and St. Paul schools are highly segregated by race and income. There are several schools that are almost entirely children of color and others entirely white. That crap doesn't happen by accident. Its reflective of deep and abiding institutiona/systemic racism which is only make possible by racist attitudes of the majoritiy (for now) white community. Yes, racism is alive and unwell, right here in river city folks.

Could you please show us where you found this information? I'm very curious to read your sources.

Thanks in advance.

I think what Regional means is that these police incidents do occur (in any city that has an AFrican-American male population). The TC public schools are becoming almost totally inner city because of an influx of Hmong and Somali populations. So, no, you aren't going to have crosses in front of houses. People in general get along very well with each other.

JenLee, the MN Council on Crime and Justice (police interaction material and my 22 year old son and friends, in other words life experience) and the Institute on Race and Poverty (school information).

My first ECFE class had three mixed race couples out of four. Go figure, we're in Hopkins.
