I can't believe anyone can believe this Thread. Fridley is the home on Medtronics one of the biggest medical equipment manufacturers in the world. It is also a very large suburb with first rate schooling as is Spring Lake Park which sits to the North. Columbia Heights is divided from most of Fridley by the major Metro thouroughfar 694 which provides access in Fridley to Central Avenue (Hwy65) which goes either straight downtown on straight throught the North Metro Area to the cabin areas of Northern Minnesota or Blaine if you wat to live closer. Fridley is also home to Target shipping operations, a massive but hidden complex that ships to target stores throughout the united states. Shopping malls of Rosedale and Northtown are only minutes away. There are also swimming and fishing lakes close by. Iam not a Fridley resident but I dont like junk said about such a beautiful area. You can obtain lovely homes along the Mississippi River which runs along East River Road in the 500,000+ range or more affordable single family homes on some of Fridleys picturesque hill areas. Housing ranges from townhomes to single family homes 150,000-300000. Near by New Brighton a St. Paul suburb has less expensive Condos available. Hope this helps and those Southern Metro types can quit insulting the North Metro "Working Class" (Can you even say Medtronics?) and I will try to return the favor

I know a pharmacist who lives in Columbia Heights. His house is probably 4 times the size of mine. I'm not sure how you could call that kind of neighborhood "seedy."

its really white trash, not a desirable place to live by any means, and who cares if medtronic is there? thats like saying richfield is a top tier suburb because best buy is located there, and trust me richfield is leaps and bounds above fridley.

Fridley (and the other Northeast suburbs - New Brighton, Columbia Heights, etc.) is actually not a bad place. Quiet, middle class, close to freeways. Fridley and New Brighton are bedroom communities, which is why you never hear anything about them.
Most of the twin cities is homogenous with decent neighborhoods. The problem areas tend to be dumpy apartment complexes (in any location), and North Minneapolis and those areas bordering on it. Don't confuse North Minneapolis (west of the river) with Northeast Minneapolis (east of the river). Ignore those people trying to push their agenda that the north suburbs are undesirable, who perpetuate the myth in order to inflate their own property values. |

Yeah, who cares that Medtronic is in Firdley?
Well, who cares that Richfield "eminent-domained" several long-standing business and an entire neighborhood (blight mod cut, it was no better or worse than any other area of Richfield--PLUS they let the dumpy apartments stay!) in order to let Best Buy build their ugly brown buildings there?
