And it's one of the things I miss most about living there.

"The Trust for Public Land named the city’s parks and recreation facilities tops in the nation among 100 large city park systems in rankings released Wednesday. It’s Minneapolis’ fifth year at No. 1."

No doubt. Really the entire Twin Cities has great parks. I'm amazed that I can go on a nightly walk after dinner, and literally pass through 5 parks. All have new playgrounds, well kept amenities, some have lakes, ice rinks, warming houses, etc. The grass is always mowed and garbages empty. Kudos to the twin cities on parks!!!!

I can't say I'm surprised. AND, many of the city parks are woefully out of date with upkeep. The twin lakes are due for an overhaul and I believe one is in the works. I'll be pumped to see that upgrade once its done!

Having small children, I'd personally love to see a bigger effort to make great public play spaces for smaller children in and around downtown. I heard the new East Commons (or whatever they're calling it) has something like that for kids, but I haven't seen it yet. Chicago did something to this effect downtown and it has THE best playground I have personally ever seen (and that includes Chutes and Ladders in Bloomington)!
