a 24 hour block party where everybody is chill and friendly to everybody. I've been to a few places like that in my life and none of those are in the United States. Is there any place remotely like that in Minnesota? If there is I wanna live there.

Cuautla, Mexico
Cuernavaca, Mexico Granada, Nicaragua That is really the only way I can describe the relationship I had with my neighbors in these places. People in Latin America are the complete opposite of Minnesotans in this regard. You can literally walk up to a couple neighbors you've never talked before, crack open a couple beers and talk like you've known each other all your life. When you join a neighborhood down there you become part of a family...it's incredible. |

Based on my experiences, you won't find anything like that anywhere around the Twin Cities. Maybe in Duluth.

I grew up in Metro Indy. People are very friendly in Indiana even if they do have a little twang to their voice. (At least they're not cutting their cast iron bath tubs in half, placing them in the front yard with a statue of the Mother Mary inside--seen a lot of that in Northern Wisconsin. In my best Wisconsin accent... "Heya, let's get the fish fry and a coupla beers down at the Supper Club, eh." While I have not experienced it the word I got was that the people in the Twin Cities are far more friendly than those in SE Wisconsin. I was looking forward to it. I am also looking forward to the Metropolitan culture again. Thanks Y'all, hsb |

I've heard mixed messages on this. Are people in Minnesota, friendly to new comers? Do people have social lives?
I'm in Seattle right now looking to move and people aren't firndly here and pretty much stay inside - good weather or bad. I'm friendly and hav emade friends but I do want a place where it isn't nearly impossible to accomplish this. |

It's what you make of it. There are some places where I definitely feel the true Minnesota nice. Just to throw out an example, the YMCA in South Minneapolis off of Blaisdell. Great people there.
P.S. This doesn't apply to the Burger King next door. Worst customer service EVER! |

Well, "everybody is chill" for most of January in Minnesota, but I don't think it's quite in the same way you're talking about. :-)

Yeah, about all that chill does is make everybody lose their natural tans and makes the suicide rate quadruple.
