Exclamation I Need A Oral Surgeon But Have No Money And Infection Has Spread

I have been cut off from Minnesota Care because they made a mistake in 2002 on paper work and said I did not go through the proper paper channels from SSI to SMRT Minnesota disability program and was informed about this three days before Thanksgiving in 2007. No medical coverage I was hit by a car on December 5th 2007 and it was the drivers word against mine so lawyer pushed for no fault, That lady driver claimed I jumped in front of her car, can anyone be that suicidal, what a lie. I was at the Walker Methodist Care Center for three and half months with no medical coverage and confined to a wheelchair and unable to go out much. No fault only covers twenty thousand and the rest I have to pay but no savings. I lived on 960.00 a month from a irrevocable trust fund and pay taxes on this for life but I got a increase after many years except I owed nine thousand in property taxes and Iam losing a thousand a month paying it off plus bankruptcy payments. I was cut off from Minnesota Care three years ago and medical costs were impossible. I still use wheel chair even though the legs are healed, I have very arthritic joints and now cant getHumira due to cut off, this is about two thousand a month. I have been unable to see a oral surgeon after I left the Walker and the infection is now down to the bone. It can take many months or a year to get back on a medical program and here Iam a taxpayer but cant get private insurance because of a pre existing condition. Is there a oral surgeon in Minneapolis to extract a tooth or a dentist to xray my teeth to see if there is anymore trouble brewing,. My name is Mari Newman at marin7779@hotmail.com

I know what it's like to need dental work and have no insurance. No one seemed to want to help me.

The best suggestions I have are to try the Neighborhood Involvement Program: Neighborhood Involvement Program -- Serving the Greater Minneapolis & St. Paul, MN Areas (http://www.neighborhoodinvolve.org/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC={5919A65E-7883-4636-A39A-9A5F1C8466D3 - broken link)}

or United Way 211 (formerly First Call for Help):

United Way Phone Numbers

211 -- First try dialing 211. But not all communities have 211 service. Also, many cell phones don't.

651-291-0211 - In Twin Cities if 211 doesn't work.
1-800-543-7709 - If 211 doesn't work in Greater Minnesota

Otherwise, here is a list of sites that might help. If they can't help you, they may be able to suggest someone/someplace that can. Minnesota HELP Resources

Best Wishes to a speedy recovery!

I was going to suggest the same thing as Simple Living...call United Way 211. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

Good luck!

Call the MN Dental Association and ask about the DDS (Donated Dental Services) Program. You may be eligible.

I needed truly emergency dental services once several years ago and HCMC actually turned me away because I didn't have insurance! Right behind them, on the wall, was a placard that said they can't refuse service to those without insurance. I'll never forget that.

That sucks. Don't go to HCMC, I guess.

Default Pulling Teeth

The Union Gospel Misson has dentists who come there and care for the homeless and needy. They pull teeth for free. The Dentist's are local private practice dentists ranging from general to specialist's. They are good people who want to give back to the community, they volunteer their services. Call there- I believe you do need an appointment or else its a show up first come basis- worth checking out... It's downtown St. Paul by the Excel Engery Center.
