Percentages can be deceiving. You could say that a town of 500 people that jumped to 800 is the fastest growing in the Midwest.
Columbus is also growing faster than the Twin Cities in raw numbers, not just percentage-wise.

That is measuring city proper population, not metro area.
A more accurate measure can be found here: https://www.recenter.tamu.edu/data/p...ngton%2C_MN-WI

This thread was very specifically started as a discussion about the size of municipal Minneapolis, not the size of the Twin Cities metro area.

So Columbus proper is growing faster than Minneapolis proper? Why does this bother you so much? Good Lord, I'd never live in Ohio, but the fact - the fact - that Columbus is growing faster than the largest city in Minnesota bothers me not one iota.

Oh, I don't care. It doesn't bother me either. I'm just saying measuring growth by city limit population is a silly way to measure growth. It really has no bearing on the metrics that affect the character and economy of an area.

Minneapolis-St. Paul CSA = 3.946 Million people.

Columbus CSA = 2.425 Million people.

Just saying. And I really, really like Columbus. It's my favorite Ohio city. But I also like the Twin Cities.

And I will add this:

If Columbus (the city proper) was as densely populated as Minneapolis is (7,800 people per square mile), then Columbus (the city proper) should have a population of 1.7 million people.

But it doesn't. It's half as dense as Minneapolis (or St. Paul).

This is Minneapolis....

I'm originally from Kansas and have spent my post college years in Denver, Minneapolis, Dayton (OH), Pittsburgh, and San Francisco. Of all those places, I'd still rank Minneapolis as the best place to live because it's affordable, is economically vibrant, and because of Minnesota nice. Dayton, OH is by FAR the worst place on earth...but then again I'd expect as much from Ohio.

I'll be moving back to MN soon for work.
