I heard there is also a plan for a light rail line through the SW suburbs after the central corridor and northstar line are built. It's supposed to follow France avenue and eventually make its way to Chanhassen or something like that.

MNNative will be walking and biking everywhere...
I just read an article about gas prices reaching $4/gallon this summer. I will whine. lol $50+ to fill my car is crazy. I remember $20 fills....thankfully I don't drive often and my husband will be commuting a shorter distance once we move...maybe it'll all even itself out.

Most those people complaining are doing so because when they orginially moved to their location their home was cheap, their gas was cheap, and there were probably half the cars on the road. I would probably complaining too, it's just natural.

How much more in taxes can people handle, though? Minnesota has got to be among one of the highest taxed areas to live already. (Note I did say ONE.) So many people are barely getting by paycheck to paycheck as it is. Many more are struggling to even do this. Higher taxes are a band-aid, not the solution.

I see what you're saying, but I disagree. I don't think complaining is natural, I think it's just become the norm because people do it so much. Complaining is a way to put the blame on someone else. Heaven knows we don't want any blame for ourselves. People would rather complain about the higher gas prices than alter the way they use gasoline. Complaining is easier than taking action or "depriving" ourselves to do with less of it.
If gas gets to $10 a gallon in the US, people will continue to use almost as much of it. The parts they do cut out would be because they simply didn't have any more money to spend on it.
Yet, Americans have more than enough money/credit cards to buy the latest technological gadgets, eat out, rent DVDs, go to movies, subscribe to magazines, NetFlix, buy Starbucks Coffees, pastries in the morning before work, TiVo, satellite and cable television, subscriptions to digital satellite radio for their cars, etc.,
Americans simply want everything and to not have to suffer or pay the price for their greed, materialism and addictions to entertainment, convenience and instant gratification.
Someone blasted me (in another thread, I think) because I said I chose to live where I could walk, bike or take public transportation to work. That I choose not to own a television, stereo, microwave, dishwasher, etc., They said that most people can't do that. I argue that they can, they just won't. We hate to be deprived. I'm a country guy living in the city because of these choices so I'm making this sacrifice until I'm debt-free once and for all (by the end of the year.) Living in the city is NOT easy for me. I hate it. I can afford to live somewhere more rural, but I'd be saddled with debt for many more years because I would have to buy a car and pay for everything that comes with cars, like gas, car payment, insurance, maintenance and parking.
My point is, we ALL have control over the choices we make. In fact, we are all where we are in life primarily because of the choices we've made.
Gas prices wouldn't be a problem if people made wiser decisions about their debt and lifestyles.

I remember when the days of $10 per fill, and sometimes even less. But, until people make harder decisions about how they live and what they pay for, gas prices will continue to rise.

I had a Honda Civic for years and I remember it cost $10 to fill it. This was as recently as 2002.

I'd still rather have a horse than a car. And oats are cheaper.

Imagine how gross the streets would be if people started riding horses in the city....yuck. Getting the bike cabs here like New York would be cool though.

At this point with gas being high everybody is complaining. If I could I would take the bus to work but there are none available.
