why do they treat us different? why are we always singled out? theres alot of questions like that that go through my head constantly. in suburban schools if something bad happens they get counslers and stuff. in our schools (inner city schools) if something bad happens they just expect us to move on. I understand that we dont have much money but if we have enough money for war shouldnt we be able to get a couple counslers. thats why so many of us are messed up in the head now. i know that i dont know how to express myself in a positive way. when i'm sad mad or anything the only thing i feel is rage. if you read my other post you know that i saw a man die and its been on my mind every since. just yesterday i was walking down the street and i overheard people talking bad about the guy it wasnt my bussiness but i said somthing anyways. i got in a fight with 2 guys. i know its my fault and i take full responsibilty for it.but dont you think if i knew how to express myself in a better way that wouldnt have ever happened? most of us dont have parents we could just sit down and talk to about this. i know i dont. thats why i write on this forum. i just dont understand why we are treated different. mabey its because we messed it up for ourselves, by causing most of the deaths and volence. i know that my generation is all messed up i hear it constantly from older people. but mabey if we had better rolemodels we could have a little hope for our futures and mabey we wont think its normal to live only till 21 and if you make it past that its a blessing. i know that when i go to college (hopefully) im going to be a lawyer and a psycologist. and im going to have lots of mentoring programs in my neighborhood in north minneapolis. please dont tell me that thats too hard or impossible i got enough people that tell me that i probably wont make it to college anyways, just tell me what i have to do to focus on my goals and stay on the right path. i wanna make it i really do but now i think im already headed down the wrong path.

Well, I've been telling you to stay focused and stay in school. YOU can do whatever you want in life; just STAY OUT OF TROUBLE and get through school. This fighting stuff has to stop or you will be seriously heading down the wrong path. Fighting will only bring you down, and you are a better person than that.

I are intelligent and you have a good grasp of the English language; start writing about this stuff in a diary or blog and how it affects you. Write about how you can keep your nose clean and out of trouble in spite of the hard life you see.

You can DM several people here and they will respond. Please take care of yourself --and of your future. Put your head into your schoolbooks and stay focused until you graduate from high school. YOU owe yourself that much.

northsider14, there are people who respond to your posts here because they are concerned about you. It will be up to you to keep out of trouble; but if you keep posting here you will make more internet friends. It's possible that some of these posters may mentor you or even that you may meet some of them someday. The big question is: can you keep yourself focused on your goals and stay out of trouble?

You can make it to college if you want. You just have to want it enough. Just stay out of trouble and focus on your studys at school!! That is key. If it means walling your self off from all of the bad influences around you, then so be it. Associate yourself with those that you can confide in and want the same things as you, or those that have been to college (to go to college and educate your self) They are out there. Maby beocme active in your church or place of worship. That got me through alot of tough times. If you cant get to college right away, try a community school and work your way up and get yourself to a neighbrohood where you can stay out of trouble. As tempting as it is to get in a fight with someone, be the better person and leave them behind, they wont matter anyway in the future and will only haunt you if you let them. I wont lie and say it will be easy to get to and through college and become sucessfull and everyone takes a hit in life from time to time, some more than others, but you just have to keep going and know that things can get better. Seriously, those that succeed in college are those that want to, Ive seen many of rich kids from good schools that dont make it through college because they dont have the motivation or drive to do so and get into trouble with drinking and drugs because they dont think of their future. Is Sister Jean Thuerauf, the catholic nun still in your neightborhood. I think she lives on Morgan not too far from North HI if Im not mistaken. (not sure the address) I got to listen to her a couple years back and assume she is still alive and kickin. Look her up, she would be a good one for advice and a listing ear. Has some good programs going on in the North Side.

YOU ARE NOT on the wrong path.... let me tell you something... life is HARD, and times its so hard you don't think theres a light at the end of the tunnel (everyone goes threw it, at one time or another, and some worse then others) but never the less it's HARD WORK, but then all of a sudden theres the light at the end of the tunnel..... and depending on how focused you are you'll get there quick...

STAY FOCUSED and keep posting if you feel your getting help here!!!
Theres always someone who will help or give advice.... I'm so proud of you for expressing your feelings and talking about whats going on in your life, thats good cuz it shows YOU CARE ABOUT ..... YOU!!!!.... your going to do just fine... hold your head up high.
And you know what (just thought of something) Do this for me ...... write down on a piece of paper and make goals of what you want to do or accomplish... then fold it up and KEEP it with you AT ALL TIMES, when your in doubt, take it out and read it, keep reading it till your crossing off the accomplishments....you'll see you'll start thinking HEY I can do this and each step gets easier!!!
