My parents are in the Poconos, north of Allentown, south of Scranton. My family is from Brooklyn but have scattered around Jersey, Long Island and my parents to the Poconos. They used to vacation there in the 50's and 60's so the area has always had a sentimental draw for them. It's a little isolated but I have a lot of family within an hour or two and NYC and Philly are both accessible.
Say hi to The Office for us!

Hey, welcome! I'm a relocated (formerly native) Minnesotan living out in the NYC metro for the past several years. I had a hard time leaving Minneapolis behind (I love, love the bicycling friends I made and, honestly, where else can you find the Lake Pepin 3-Speed Tour? Not here!) and the beautiful lakes, North Shore, etc.

That said, I realized that things aren't bad out here either. You're probably already aware that we have beautiful Fall weather on the East Coast and the winters are overall much milder. Spring is beautiful with the Cherry Blossoms and the Poconos are gorgeous year-round. I love the we can take weekend road trips to Philly, DC, Boston, Vermont, and even Montreal sometimes! It's a fun area to live in and explore, especially if you enjoy outdoor activities. The Philly area seems to be growing a lot too recently, and it's a short Amtrak ride to DC or NYC.

So anyway welcome! You can always join us over at the NY forums if the PA ones are less welcoming.
